Major Book Blogger LOVE

This was true when I first started my blog and it's still true today. The only reason I'm speaking of this at all is that I've seen so many bloggers upset by some things that has been going on.

There's been some things happen lately between bloggers and authors. I think some authors need a little definition of "Book Blogger".

There are a few authors causing some ruckus lately online. Well, I'm not even going to really get into it. I've seen some bloggers that have been hurt because when they bust their butt for us, most of the time, they don't ask for much in return. If you haven't seen the threads on Goodreads and the tweets & Facebook & blog wars about it, in my opinion, you're not missing anything.

I'm not going to go into what was said or not said, or who was right or not right, I'll just say this.

Number one, 'those' authors. The ones who use people and have an opinion about everything and feel the need to be rude and will do anything to get to the top? They don't speak for all Indies.

Number two, book bloggers are free publicity and marketing, a helping hand to get out author news and release stuff, ongoing support, a vital tool for our readers to find us and our books, friends, neighbors, you name it.

Plus THEY DON'T GET PAID TO DO IT!

They take time from their families, school, jobs, whatever, and do it solely for their enjoyment of books and to run their busy blogs. I credit a ton of my book sales to book bloggers and I'll tell anyone that asks me that that's the truth.

Truth be told, I've run across a few 'duds' if you will in the blogger world. The same would be said for dud authors. You have to take the bad with the good, but in this case, the good FAR outweighs the bad. If we started a rant every time someone did something we didn't like, I'd never go back to the grocery store or Burger King!

I could go on and on, but I won't.

Respectful Bottom line?

This is a business. You can't always get what you want when and how you want it. You have to work hard, busting your butt, and push through setbacks. You have to travel long roads of rejection and feelings of wasted time, and burning bridges isn't the way to get you there. If all of what I just said isn't worth it to you to push it down and keep going, then I don't think you're in the right business.

END OF RANT

My favorite blogger  is so easy because I love her to pieces and she's been with me literally from the beginning. She was the first blogger to review my book and I've got mad love for her.

MandyIReadIndie aka Mandy Twimom101
Her blog is:

Another great blogger who has gone above and beyond for me, without even being asked to, is Mary from

  29. I have a lot of great blogs I follow and there are even more great bloggers out there. But when it comes to my favorite, I have to say there are two: Rachel@Fiktshun and Jennifer@Some Like It Paranormal. I found Rachel through the YA Crush Tourney and she made me fall in love with one of my favorite YA series series to date. I think hers was the first blog I followed and she also made me fall in love with the book blogging community. She puts so much time and work into her blogs (yes, blogs) and each post is well-written. She supports and raves about the awesomeness of authors like no other.

Then there's Jennifer, who's opinion of books I trust. I think our tastes are pretty similar. I love her reviews, they're always honest, but never disrespectful, even when she didn't like the book. She also always takes the time to comment back, be it when I leave a comment on her blog, Goodreads, etc. And me, being someone who likes to discuss stuff, especially books, I appreciate that :). Also her enthusiasm for the authors and characters she loves is highly contagious. :D

  35. LOL, and THIS is one of the many reasons why I love you, Sherry! I didn't know these blogs existed! Instead I find the indie writer's website, facebook, goodreads, twitter...whatever I can find...and let the stalking commense! (I'm kidding...sorta.) I'm in SO much trouble after checking out JUST the one you recommended, now if I check out the ones others have? Uh-oh... ;)

  36. I follow one of my best friends (whom I have sadly never met and consider her my twin) Shanese!!! I love your series and I'm glad you show respect for all the bloggers, I understand as an author you get upset when you see someone not like something you worked so hard to create. But then you see more people who love your work and that just makes things all the better. The way I see it is, you can't please everyone and you can learn about the things that some people have a problem with and have a chance to make it better the next time around or you can choose to see how much people don't want anything changed. What irks me are the bloggers who never have a nice thing to say about ANYTHING they read. That is where I get annoyed. Honestly I like to make my own opinion about a book before I listen to a strangers recommendation. I say stranger because I trust all my book friends judgement well the ones that have similar taste as me. Otherwise I will read a book myself to see if I like it or not. We don't all have similar tastes and sometimes people (like me at times) are in a weird mood when we read a book, and I may not like it as much the first time and when I reread it again I love it. So yes my rant is over now and I love your significant series and I need the next book sooooooooooooooo bad!!! I have to have closure to the series! Sad it's the last book though, I would love to see more characters and their significance's!!! I have the books on my kindle but I really want to buy the actual copy of the books! I start nursing school next month so reading is gonna be limited soon and money haha, but fear not I will buy them eventually!!! My friends blog is TheBo0ki3.Blogspot.com thank you and keep up the amazing job Shelly!!!

  47. T__________________T I think I love you already!
I'm a rookie blogger, been doing it over a year now, but lately things have been so sad and I've thought to myself several times if all the work and time I went through to share my love for books was worth it when everyone else was turning against each other and now authors joining:'( and just go back to the safe place that my mind is and just continue to enjoy the books I love silently without the blogging... But then... I remembered that I love books so much I want to share it with everyone who is willing to listen or read...

So this post, thank you, I've never read any of your books-don't want to sound like I just came here for the giveaway lol so don't enter me-but I still wanted to share my favorite blogger.

She's Rachel @Fiktshun -www.fiktshun.com- and she simply rocks my world... Her reviews are the ones that convince me to read the books...
And as of lately the amazing

Valerie -www.stuckinbooks.com- has been added to the list...

I have a LOT of bloggers whose blog I stalk constantly but these 2 are the ones I visit daily, and more than once :D

Thanks for the post and I completely am happy that you said what I've been telling everyone since this 'incident' This behavior does not represent what all indie authors do or how they act... this was just a slump in the road and hopefully we can get past it now.

  48. I follow SEVERAL book blogs! I for one love to read blogs, I like to get different outlooks on the books I'm deciding on reading. It helps me to be sure I'm going to read something I'm interested in and also I love finding new titles and authors. I would love to blog since I read so much and have been trying to finally put mine together, but I'm really... really NOT that techy of a person and blogger has been kicking my butt. One of these days I'll get there lol!
BUT I do follow many blogs and I would be more than happy to share a few of them because I love their blogs and they give great opinions and reviews in my opinion!

    I Am A Reader, Not A Writer- http://iamareadernotawriter.blogspot.com/
    Confessions of a Bookaholic-
    http://www.totalbookaholic.com/
Me, My Shelf and I- http://www.memyshelfandi.com/
    Stuck In Books- http://www.stuckinbooks.com/
    The Autumn Review- http://www.autumnreview.com/
    The Bookish Brunette- http://www.bookish-brunette.com/

And those are honestly just a few I follow. There are a lot of great blogs out there and I agree with Shelly... you do find "duds" but it happens! And thank you to the blogger's out there because as Shelly also stated... they do this for free! So thank you for using your time, you help... writers and readers!

  87. Love the blog Winterhaven, they do a great job and love reading all of their reviews. Amber from Winterhaven is the one who got me hooked with all of your books and I have not put them down since. I am happy to say that you are my favorite author. Just finished reading Stealing Grace and cannot wait until the next book.
