Angeline Kace: Interview & Giveaway

Angeline Kace was awesome enough to stop by and say Hi!
She's bringing with her an e-copy of her book
Descended by Blood.
Also, I'll throw in the sequel, Enemy Within,

Grand Prize! E-books of both books in the series to a winner!

Descended by Blood

Brooke Keller is a high school junior who has never spent much time living in one place. She is finally in a town long enough to almost snag the boy of her dreams, until her life is threatened after killing a fanged man in his attempt to kidnap her. Brooke begins a dangerous journey in an effort to find out who is after her and how to stop them. In a world with powerful and prejudiced vampires, Brooke must tap into the side of her that she never knew existed at the risk of losing her life in order to save it.

So, Angeline, tell us about your books and yourself.

1.    How did you come up with the story line behind your books?
Oh man! It’s been a LOT of work! I originally wanted to have vampires and werewolves, but in an effort to distance my book as much as possible from being called “another Twilight,” I took out the werewolves. Don’t get me wrong, I love Twilight. I just knew I wouldn’t love it to have my book constantly compared to it.

2.    Are you planning to keep going and going, going? J
Hahahaha!! The Vampire Born Trilogy is just three books, but I have tons of ideas to write when these ones are finished! I have an AWESOME idea for a sci-fi/Dystpian with an amazing lead. I also have a YA contemporary romance planned, too. I just need the time to write them all!

3.    What did you want to be when you were growing up?
I wanted to be a lawyer. I was a very dedicated kid, too! I was gonna work hard in school, go to college and graduate in the top of my class, and then be the best attorney in the state. That was until I got to college and took my first class, and decided it wasn’t for me. I dropped out of that class and changed my major. It’s now accounting, but I’m hoping to never have to use and WRITE for my career!

4.    Who's your favorite author and/or favorite book and why?
This is a tough question, but I’d say Jeanine Frost is my favorite author. I love every one of her books, and she just seems like a really awesome person!
Twilight will always hold a special place in my heart because it got me reading again and was eventually what got me into writing.

5.    Do you have a cast in mind if your book were ever to become a movie?
I don’t have set people who I would like to play my characters. But I think Lucy Hale would make a good Brooke, and Wenton Miller looks like Mirko. But other than that, I think the acting is more believable than the looks. Like the chick who plays Katniss in The Hunger Games. I wasn’t sure about her when she was announced as getting the part, but watching the movie, she’s PERFECT!

6.    What is something you wished you'd done differently when publishing your first book?
I think there will always be things I wished I’d done differently with every book I’ll ever publish. This business is always evolving and as a writer we should strive to keep improving our craft, so some things I wished I’d done differently are all things I’ve learned now. How to make the book tighter, editing this out, editing this in, stuff like that. But the way things went down at the time I published, I seriously think it was the best the book & the launch could have been with what I knew at the time.

7.    What is something awesome that we can look forward to in future books?
OMG!! I am sooo ridiculously excited about this series!! Enemy Within (book 2) has a ton of stuff going on. The twists and turns are sooo freaking fun to write!! And then I already have a bunch of stuff for the final book in the trilogy planned out. Ahhh!! I wish I could share that stuff with all of you because I am seriously bouncing in my chair just thinking of how many loops I’m throwing you through in that one! MAJOR things happen! I just hope no on hates me after they read it!

8.    Any lessons learned or advice to new authors?
Yes!!!! Get an editor, get beta readers you TRUST, who will tell you your book sucks if they think that! And find early on those people who are on the same journey with you, who you can trust and bounce ideas (story & marketing) with. That makes this experience sooo much more tolerable, fun, and worthwhile!

9.    What's your absolute favorite thing about be an author?
I would say it’s a tossup between those highs you get when you just KNOW you have written an amazing scene, and the readers. I FREAKING LOVE my readers!! I was telling an author just the other day how I wanted to hug each one of my readers, and buy them each a CAR!!! Lol Right!? I love them so much for buying my book and reading it that I wish I could buy them a car! #CrazyAng

10. List 5 random things about yourself.
I am a 5 Hour Energy fanatic! Pomegranate only please!

I am an emotional person. I’m more likely to make a decision based on how I FEEL about it than what seems like the more logical thing to do. And I really bring that into my writing. I write with the goal of having my readers really experience my books on a visceral level.

I’m a very visual person, so I need to have a book’s cover done early in the writing process for me to feel “right” about where I’m going with the book. Sometimes I’ll see an image and a whole story will unfold in mind just from that single image.

I have three dogs; a Cane Corso (Italian Mastiff- 100 lbs), a Pit Bull (60 lbs), and a Mini Schnauzer (like 2 lbs). Right!? I think I am definitely crazy guys! Lol

My pinkies are crooked! Yep! Just like the vamps in my books! Crooked pinkies ROCK, yo! ;)
