  1. This is sort of weird, but when I first got my divorce from my first husband, a man, who will remain nameless, inspired me to become my own person and was a huge influence on my self-esteem. My current husband would is the one who encourages me now and has allowed me to pursue my dream of writing. Thanks for the giveaway Shelly, I enjoyed Wide Awake and Wide Open so much.

  2. my mum because even though my family have been through a lot and she can be the worlds most annoying person, she is always there for me. She is my best friend and for that i am truly thankful because she has inspired me to be all that i can be.

  3. The someone in my life would be my older brother. He is such an inspiration to me just through everyday things. He takes care of his family, he works hard, and he always has my back. I feel blessed, grateful, and spoiled having him in my life. I hope to follow in his footsteps.

  4. That one person in my life who influenced me was my Mother-in-law. She has always been there for me when I needed someone to talk to, she has encouraged me to always follow my dreams. She passed away right before Thanksgiving. I didn't just loose a mom, I also lost my best friend. She is deeply missed! :-(

  5. My husband is my best friend and his humor and love inspires me. My mom is a silent warrior with great strength, though she is wan to take a compliment. My father is a big kid who inspires me with his "youth" and energy for life. My three sons are my joy and all their similarities and differences inspire me.

Thank you for this beautiful series, Shelly. I enjoyed all of them and Wide Open was my favorite :)

  6. My boyfriend is my best friend, and never fails to make even the most mundane things fun. The best times are sitting on the couch, chatting and laughing - he makes me feel more alive than anyone. Thanks for the giveaway!

  7. My husband - he has been my rock. From helping through my mother having leukemia twice, through three 'touchy' pregnancies, cleaning up projectile vomit from the kids (I just can't do it), helping me see things like I never have before, kissing my cheeks, working his butt off, to just being the man that I love. He has been the one person I have always been able to count on in life!!

  8. This will be weird, there isn't exactly one person who has completely changed my life. I would say my family as a whole has changed my life, we've all had different experiences and we all go about our lives differently. Learning from our mistakes and each other is what all of grow.

  9. My sister has made me feel alive. She was diagnosed with MS a couple of years ago and that has not allowed her to be as active, although she tries. She wakes up every day with a smile and gives each day her best. I know I can count on her no matter what and she remains and inspiration.

  10. Before my husband, my dad, who was taken away when I was only 18 was everything to me. Since he worked nights, he was with me during the day and fostered any interests I had, no questions asked. He taught me to paint, to drive, he would pick up little things that I loved from the local candy story just because. He even would bring me to lumber yards when he needed to pick up supplies for a project and to this day, the smell of lumber brings me back. And reminds me why I love tools and have become so handy myself! Yeah I miss him everyday yet feel so blessed to have had him in my life.

  11. I haven't found that one person that has changed my life. I would not be where I am today though without my family : )

  12. That would be my best friend .. she's always there for me whether I need to be crazy, have fun or just need a shoulder to cry on :)

  13. My grandmother (nanny) was like that for me also. She took me shopping, swimming, to work with her (real estate agent) and to putt putt. She was wonderful and I can't imagine a better grandmother in the world. I could talk to her about anything and she would be upfront and honest with me if I was being a prat or if it was just a bad situation with no great answer. I really loved that about her :)

  14. My mom. She's always there for me and pushes me to be the best I can be and had great advice C:

  17. Recently that place is taken up by my college friends. They'd say the most funny, distracting and stupid things to make me forget my worries even if only for a little time. And then they'd reason out with me, make me understand things and show me a different angle to see it. :)

  18. It has always been my Nana. She's always been my partner in crime and someone I can share anything with, especially the last few years when I really needed her.

  20. my best friend, she is the most amazing person ever, she always knows what to say when I'm upset, and always finds a way to do nice things for other people, before her i was a completely different person, she made me so much better, i love her, and she definitely made a huge impact in my life, even with all the crazy things we have done together- her impact has always been positive and always will be, thank God i have the most amazing best friend ever

  21. Shelly,
mine would have to be my grandma Thompson. I love her so much for all the amazing things she taught me. All the amazing Italian foods I can cook is from spending many hours in the kitchen with her cooking. No matter if I made a mistake we just laughed and she would say " it's not a mistake its just extra love for the food from you". Its so great to have these memories. I am teaching my daughters all the cooking that I learned from her and some of her jokes too. I would share but they are not very clean.

  28. My mom has always been my rock, my sister and my grandpas. It is actually very hard for me to chose one specefic person because throughout my life I've gained and lost friends & family and every single one of them have changed me in some way. :)

  29. I think that it was my friends in middle school, but in elementary I was kind of a loner. I had very few friends like 5-9 friends. When I entered middle school, I made friends who loved and depended on me. Who like me for me. That made me feel alive.

  31. My son is the one person that makes me feel alive. He is so innocent and the way he sees life.... it just amazes me. He always makes me smile and helps me find comfort when I'm feeling blue. His energy is very contagious.

  33. It's so weird but it's youtubers. I have never met them personally nor have I ever talked to them in real life. Yet watching them helping people inspires me to become a better person than I was the day before. I've not met the man of my life and I hope I'll see him one day.

  34. Maybe it's silly of me to be saying this but the YouTubers I've grown to watch every day and love have made a big impact on me. YouTube in itself is a community and then when it breaks down into each YouTuber and their followers, I can't explain it well but some people I've "met" online make the difference between a good and bad day for me. Also, I've made close friends through blogging and without those friends, I don't know what I'd do without them.

  35. My Fiance', Joseph! He makes me feel wanted, loved, and beautiful. He has shown me what a real man is really like. He makes sure I know that I deserve the best in life, that I am worthy of love, that I am beautiful and desirable, that I am perfect in every way to him (he even adores my faults), and that he will take care of me and protect me in any way possible, until he no longer breathes on this Earth, and if he goes before me, he will be there watching over me and protecting me from beyond, and he will be the first one there to guide me into the next journey in the afterlife. He has restore my faith and hope for the future. He has taught me what love really is and what it should be. He tells me he would be lost without me in his life, but I was lost, and he found me. He brought me back into the world of the living and taught me how to care and love again. I would be the one lost without him now.

  36. My mother, may she R.I.P It has been extremely hard since I lost her in 2012. She was my rock. I no longer have anyone to tell all of my problems to anymore.

  37. My husband is one person who makes me feel alive, who I can turn to with anything, who will always be there with me. I also have two best friends from childhood, Pam and Jacki, who are like that with me (we've survived several moves to different states, colleges, marriages, families, etc. Our friendship is everlasting).

  38. My parents. :) They showed me how a married life is. Through thick and thin. :)
My Dad had girlfriends before he met my Mom. It's true in the stories, when you find the one, you'll really change for the better. Then my Mom also showed me how hands-on she is to us. Seeing my parents are always a breath of fresh air. Even if at times they infuriate me, the love they have for us, even intangible... is very much felt :)
