Teaser Tuesday : Independence

First let me just say that I've had quite a few people comment that this book was apparently going to be 'very sexy' and I had some emails from younger readers ask if they were going to be able to read the book because they figured I was going to tag it as New Adult because of the sex. The answer is absolutely not. I'm not going to start a YA series and make the last book NA and too sexed up, that wouldn't be fair to the readers. Caleb and Maggie are getting more intimate with each other, but I promise you it won't go too far. The teasers I've been showing you were the more intimate ones just because they were the most fun to write and I had it on the brain, but this book will be YA. J And anyone who complains (because I've gotten those emails too, begging for me not to hold back on the details) that it is going to be YA and not describe the 'after marriage' stuff, sorry. It's a YA series and it's not fair to change the last book to a different level or genre.
Now, here's the teaser. Thank you!

"No matter what I said, you were still going to move ahead with your plan," Peter mused and opened his arm for Rachel to come into. She scooted over and they looked at each other for a few seconds before he looked back at Caleb. "Am I right?"
          Caleb smiled wryly. "Yes, sir."
Peter nodded and smiled. "I figured. You've always been a little bit rebellious. That star on your shoulder." He gave him a pointed 'fatherly' look. "Joining the swim team instead of going out for football. Leaving during Kyle's graduation party when everyone was waiting for you." He sighed and laughed soundlessly. "I guess…it all worked out for you."
"Yes, sir," Caleb whispered and pulled me to kiss my temple. "It did."
And I love that star tattoo.
He grinned down at me. "I know."
Something hit me then as I stared up at the grin I never wanted to be away from. We only had two days left until the wedding.
          Two. Days.

  2. Please please don't start writing books that get detailed in the bedroom! You do a wonderful, amazing job at creating tension without getting dirty. It is one of the reasons I buy your books :) I love that I don't have to worry about what I call 'glorified porn'. Your books are awesome and original and I cannot wait for Independence!! Thanks for sharing your talents. And, no, I am not a YA. I am married with a child; I just don't like to read dirty stuff :)

  3. ahhhhhhhh soo excited seriously cannot wait for this book to be out!!!! and I don't think it matters if you get too intimate but just remember not to leave everything out, because I know some of us, like me still get swoony when they kiss, and of course because Caleb is just so swoon-worthy its slightly rediculous and has definitely influenced my idea of the perfect man :)

  4. maybe you could write some of the more intense scenes and publish them in a little smashwords type thing,if you wanted to! :D

  5. I"m super excited for the next book. I think the super intimate parts can be be made to be intense and sexy without being all in your face and make you blush in embarrassment. Just like Quinn Loftis in the Grey Wolves or Stephanie Meyer in Twilight. Those marriage scenes were tasteful but left you with something you couldn't forget. I think any young reader could say it was in good taste and it wouldn't make you feel like you needed to go to confession.

  7. Thanks for the clarification and staying true to who you are. You can give sexy without being smuty and allow the young readers to read without blushing. Besides, there's always something said to leaving the best things to the imagination, right? Can't wait for this book, Maggie and Caleb's story is the sweetest and it's timeless in my opinion. I hope the movie does it justice. To me, Christmas comes early this year...hurry up Dec 18th!!
